PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) Ultrasound guided injectable
At Fiel MSK Center, Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is formulated with latest evidence protocols containing a high dose of platelets, this orthobiologic has been shown to facilitate the supply of oxygen and nutrients to impaired tissue, inducing tissue repair and regeneration.
What does PRP do?
In many musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders affecting joints, tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissue, these tissues are characterized by a high number of inflammatory cells; an overexpression of inflammatory mediators; such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 (IL-1); the presence of mast cells, T cells, reactive oxygen species, and matrix metalloproteinases; and a decreased angiogenic capacity. Meaning there is an environment of chronic inflammation with collagen degrading cells, decreased bloodflow and deminished nutrient supply causing tissue degeneration.
The foremost function of PRP therapy in chronic MSK problems is restoring the vascular architecture and repair environment of the treated area, which will facilitate the high metabolic activity of tissue repair and regeneration processes. Platelet dosing and bioformulation strategies are very important to initiate these angiogenic pathways that re-establish microvasculature networks, facilitating the supply of oxygen and nutrients to impaired tissues. This is why Fiel Musculoskeletal Center uses the latest evidence, protocols and equipment to get the best possible outcome for the patient.
